The AMS 800™ Artificial Urinary Sphincter is a fully implantable, fluid-filled device used in the treatment of male stress urinary incontinence (SUI), most commonly following prostate surgery.

A circumferential cuff is positioned around the bulbar urethra to mimic normal sphincter function by maintaining urethral closure. Voiding is achieved via patient-controlled activation of the pump mechanism located in the scrotum.

The device remains entirely concealed within the body and is considered the gold standard treatment for male SUI due to intrinsic sphincter deficiency.

If the AMS 800™ becomes worn out or malfunctions over time, a surgical revision may be required to replace it with a new, like-for-like device to restore the same continence function.
